| Disposable polishers for composite restorations
The Compo System (innovative single-use polishers) was developed in cooperation with private lecturer Dr. M. Oliver Ahlers. The Compo System is composed of polishing disks (CompoClips), polishing strips (CompoStrips) and the new, patented Pop-On mandrel. The main innovation is the simplification of the process: Using the Compo System, you can polish to high-shine in just three steps. The transparent CompoClips come in two diameters (9 and 13 mm) and are provided with a honeycomb aluminium oxide coating on both sides. This double-sided coating allows pulling and pushing movements without time-consuming changeover. The CompoClips are mounted onto the Pop-On mandrel (310.204) by applying light pressure, until a click that can be heard and felt confirms precise and secure locking. The disk remains safely locked and works with hardly any vibrations. Contrary to other systems, the Komet mandrel is completely covered by the CompoClips, which prevents discolouration and damage to the restoration. The clever 3 in 1 principle of the CompoStrips means that all three grit sizes are arranged in succession on one strip. The transparent strips are coated with aluminium oxide particles on one side. Uncoated surfaces for insertion and handy grips at the ends facilitate use. There is a choice of 2 mm (CS20) or 4 mm (CS40) wide strips to suit each individual case. The refillable set 4416 is an ideal starter kit.
The advantages at a glance: • Just three steps to a perfect finish • Transparent disks and strips • Improved vision and efficient substance removal thanks to honeycomb coating with polishing grit • CompoClips covered on both sides • Multifunctional CompoStrips three grit sizes per strip • Colour coding in line with diamond grit sizes to avoid mix-ups • Rational system for single use The advantages at a glance: • Just three steps to a perfect finish • Transparent disks and strips • Improved vision and efficient substance removal thanks to honeycomb coating with polishing grit • CompoClips covered on both sides • Multifunctional CompoStrips three grit sizes per strip • Colour coding in line with diamond grit sizes to avoid mix-ups • Rational system for single use Application
1. Initial situation. Fractured incisal edge (Black class IV), tooth 11, prior to the application of composite.
2a. For preliminary contouring, we recommend a "Q"-finisher (e.g. H134Q), or alternatively ...
2b. ... the black CompoClip, coated on its working face (CC1SCV).
3. Disto-proximal polishing is carried out with the CompoClip coated on both sides.
4. The palatal surface and the incisal edge can be treated by pulling the reverse of the CompoClip across these areas.
5. Polishing of the aesthetically important labial surface can be carried out using the entire front face of the CompoClip (in this case use small disk with a diameter of 9 mm), given that its mandrel is completely covered by the polishing disk.
6. In order to work on cervical proximal surfaces below the contact point or in case of weak proximal contact areas, the narrow Compo- Strip CS20 is recommended. The strip is threaded from the vestibular side, below the contact point.
7. If the entire proximal surface is to be worked on, the wider CompoStrip CS40 should be used. This strip is inserted from coronal direction. Recommendations for use:
• Subsequent to shaping and polymerisation, excessive composite has to be removed with a suitable instrument (see fig. 2a and 2b) prior to polishing. • The polishing procedure is always carried out in three steps, following the sequence blue – red – white (medium, fine and ultra fine). The photographs show the blue contouring step for illustration. • CompoClips are to be used in the blue contra-angle, at an optimal speed of 10000 rpm. • For optimum polishing results, the CompoClips should be used with cooling. When using the front of the CompoClips, make sure to supply external cooling directly aimed at the polishing site. • CompoClips and CompoStrips are disposable articles, except for the mandrel 310.204 which is designed for multiple use and can therefore be disinfected and sterilized. Set 4416 contains: 6 x 30 CompoClips (blue, red and white) 2 x 30 CompoStrips 3 pop-on-Mandrells
CompoClips and CompoStrips are available in refill packs at 80 pieces per variety. The black disk is only available in packs of 80.
